We focus on “Place and Purpose” with profiles on students, faculty and alumni who overcame challenges — each now thriving with purpose and inspiring others. A strong sense of place also emerges in articles about researchers studying a local and once nearly extinct species, and statistics students analyze data for a local nonprofit to help feed people experiencing homelessness.
FALL 2023 ISSUE
Women in STEM and at Cal Poly is the theme throughout this issue, starting with the life and legacy of Tina Bailey — a determined trailblazer, dedicated educator and namesake of our college. Other stories highlight what bioacoustics data reveals about whale activity, what college life during wartime is like for Ukrainian students and much more.
