William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation

Located at the center of campus, the Frost Center houses 102,000 square feet of state-of-the-art labs, classrooms and lecture halls for multiple colleges, including 30,000 square feet of teaching and research space for Bailey students and faculty.

Warren J. Baker Center for Science and Mathematics

This award-winning and modern building was designed for hands-on learning, interdisciplinary research and collaboration across science and math programs. Every Cal Poly student will take a class here, giving it the distinction of being a Learn by Doing hub on campus.

Cal Poly Pier in Avila Beach, California

Cal Poly Pier

This highly unique facility brings the Cal Poly campus to the Pacific Ocean along with labs, classrooms and specialized equipment. At 3,000 feet long, the Cal Poly Pier in Avila Beach provides students, faculty, researchers and government agencies with unrivaled access to the marine environment of the Central Coast.

Cal Poly Plant Conservatory

The Cal Poly Plant Conservatory maintains a diverse, well-documented and accurately labeled living plant collection while supporting and enhancing teaching and research for faculty and students. The dedicated conservatory team has curated many rare, endangered and fascinating plant species.

Cal Poly Observatory

Cal Poly Observatory

Both a portal to the stars and a tool for meaningful research, the Cal Poly Observatory is home to a 14-inch Meade research telescope that uses a digital camera to record images and track dimmer objects. The observatory creates advanced Learn by Doing experiences for students and community members.

Student preserving plant specimens in the Robert F. Hoover Herbarium

Robert F. Hoover Herbarium

This specialized space is the largest repository of botanical specimens from California’s Central Coast. Containing more than 100,000 mounted dry vascular plant specimens from western North America along with thousands of unmounted specimens for research projects plus photographic collections.
