Bailey College Recognitions and Awards
Public health Professor Joni Roberts was chosen as a recipient of the inaugural Faculty Excellence Award administered by the Office of the Provost — an honor recognizing outstanding contributions in teaching, research and service. Roberts’ research examines social determinants of health — such as discrimination and access — and she partners with communities to develop structural solutions for inequities.
Physics Professor Thomas Gutierrez is the principal investigator of a $340,000, three-year National Science Foundation grant. He is part of an international team of 150 scientists at Gran Sasso National Laboratory near Assergi, Italy, exploring unproven theories related to nuclear decay. The grant supports travel and experiments for the research that also involves students in the Bailey College.
Statistics Professor Allison Theobold is the principal investigator of a $750,000 collaborative educational research grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Allison will partner with Judith Canner at Cal State Monterey Bay to research equitable ways to integrate pair programming into statistics and data science courses. The grant supports Bailey College undergraduates' participation.
