BEACoN stands for Believe, Educate & Empower, Advocate, Collaborate, Nurture and is a innovative program run by the Office of University Diversity and Inclusion for underrepresented students to gain research experience.
U-RISE provides funded research opportunities to students from underrepresented groups and helps develop their identities as scientists.
Cal Poly and the Bailey College offer numerous scholarship and financial aid opportunities to students from all backgrounds.

The Freeman Hrabowski Scholars Program supports outstanding early career faculty committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in science.
With funding from the Ray Charles Foundation Scholarship and the Sony Music Group Scholars Program, the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Scholarships and Pathways in Neuroscience Program provides pathways for underrepresented students in medicine and science to increase the pipeline of Black physicians and scientists. The program is open to students of color from underrepresented communities.

Nuestra Ciencia is an interdisciplinary and bilingual program addressing misconceptions in microbiology and advocating STEM to young LatinX students.
Mi Gente, Nuestra Salud is a project housed in Cal Poly’s Center for Health Research addressing health inequities through direct outreach to local underserved community members.
Each summer, 250-300 undergraduate students in the college participate in funded, full-time research as part of the Frost Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP). This highly impactful program accelerates science through an immersive research experience with faculty mentors.
Each year, thousands of Bailey College students participate in faculty-mentored academic research, gaining valuable, hands-on experience that prepares them for what's next in their academic or professional careers.

Our Peer Mentors program pairs experienced, trained students with a peer that shares similar academic interests and experiences. Peer mentors help students find support, build meaningful connections, gain insight from a contemporary who’s been in their shoes, and navigate college with someone invested in their success and well-being.

The SLO Noor Foundation’s mission is to provide free medical, dental, and vision care to uninsured adults in San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County regardless of race, ethnicity, immigration status, religion, sexual orientation, or gender.
As a volunteer, you can help clients access services that would be difficult to otherwise obtain.
